Fresh fruit is one of my favorite things on the planet, so when I found out Franklin had a strawberry festival, there was no question I’d be there. Though I came to this annual event for the strawberries, I stayed for the live music, garage sale, and classic cars that were also part of the event.
Franklin is 贵州11选5网上投注 to many , which I’ll get into later. Strawberries on the Square kicks off the event season with pound cake, vanilla ice cream, strawberries and whip cream — a perfect summer treat. The pound cake and barbecue flowed as visitors took in some bluegrass and wondered by the annual garage sale held by Franklin Heritage, a non-profit group.
Later in the evening, the Artcraft opened its doors for one of the most summery movies I can think of: American Graffiti. The Pet Monkey Band played and visitors wondered between rows of classic cars.
I had a great time at the festival. Franklin has a great downtown, and the festivals are a great way to get people coming to local businesses, including consignment furniture stores, antique shops, and other fun, unique places.
If you missed Strawberries on the Square, don’t worry. There are plenty more events this summer in downtown Franklin for you to attend. Some of them include:
Smoke on the Square: A barbecue competition with live music, held June 27 and 28.
Cruisin the Courthouse: A classic car show held Aug. 8 outside Franklin’s downtown courthouse.
Beer and Bluegrass Festival: I think the name explains all you need to know about this Aug. 22 event.
Franklin also hosts a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday morning, which I’ll be writing about soon. If you haven’t tried this small town’s great downtown, do so as soon as possible. The stores, the festivals and the theater will make it an excursion you’ll want to repeat again and again.
